Hunter's 1st Tournament as a Yellow Belt

Hunter competed yesterday, February 21st, in his third tournament. This was his first time competing since being promoted to a yellow belt. Let me just say, I am a proud mom. He did so good! He ended up taking 2nd overall in his division. He won two of his three matches. Here are a couple of pics of the day.

Kara's Bridal Shower

Today was Kara's bridal shower. For those of you who may be wondering who Kara is, she is a friend of mine that in one month will be marrying my brother. As her Maid of Honor, I took on the bridal shower. The event planner in me loved doing it. I was able to do some of the things I miss so much from when I used to do events for Amex. Here are a few pics from the day.

Who needs a whole cake when you can enjoy cupcakes!!! We had our choice of either chocolate or pink frosted cup cakes. It is a great way to have the treat without feeling like there is way too much left over when the day is done.
Here is the bride to be. Her brides maid, Debbie did a wonderful job making the bow bouquet. I think she found her calling!!!!!!

Everyone seemed to have a great time. We played a few games and had a chance to catch up on random things. Just before the day was done, I realized I needed to get in front of the camera for a pic with the bride to be. I find I am usually the one behind the camera so I took a break to get a photo.

And the blog would not be complete without a pic of Kara and her flower girl, Tatum. Tatum is so excited to be in the wedding. I picked up her dress a week ago and she keeps trying on her shoes (just to make sure they fit). I have nicknamed the dress the radioactive dress. The night before I picked it up, David's Bridal called me to let me know the beads have small traces of lead in them. I asked if the concern is if the child
puts the beads in their mouth and she said yes.
Seeing as though Tatum is 9, I think she will be safe.
Jokingly, I called Kara to let her know the dress is
radioactive and if she starts glowing, we know why.

Tatum's First Dance Competition!

Today was a long and fun day for us. Tatum had her first dance competition and the girls did so good!! I am quite the proud mommy. My day began at 5:30 so that I could get showered and dressed before dealing with little miss sunshine. We were off and running by 7:15 and got home late this afternoon. (Here are some of the girls backstage getting ready.)(Tatum and Jaden warming up in the hall backstage) The girls competed two dances... jazz and tap. They got gold level trophies for both dances and got a "Hot Feet" award for their tap number. They did not make the top ten in either dance but that's ok... they will show 'em next time!!! Enjoy the pics!

New Year's Eve Wii Bowling Smackdown

We had the second annual Wii Bowling Smackdown at our house this year and boy did we have a good turn out!!! We had 26 people play with a $3.00 buy in... that was a $78.00 pot baby!!!! Everyone seemed to have a good time even if it was rediculously loud in the house. Got some great shots of everyone.....

Scottie and Scott were the 1st one's to play. Scott tried to say he let Scottie win since it is his house and all... I call bull $%*#! :)

Here are some of use lovely ladies that were there to get in on some of the action!

Melissa was channeling her inner Mary Katherine Gallagher.... Super Star!!

This is proof that size does not matter... Mallory kicked Marty's butt!!!!! Go Mal!

There's those two hot chicks again... man they are at all the functions!

AAHH... what a cute couple we are!

The Wicked Witch of Surprise

I think my children have decided I am the wicked witch. Now that I am working several jobs, I am needing help around the house. These guys have had it good and now they are not thrilled that they have resposibilities like most 11 and 9 year olds should. Tatum was devistated this weekend. Her and her girlfriends had a roller skating date set for Saturday. Well... she did not get to go. The night before she had a friend spend the night. After not cleaning up after themselves, getting red nail polish on my good towel and thinking she can continue to run loose, I decided it was time to put my foot down. I too was looking forward to a night of roller skating! But instead I stayed home with a swollen eyed little girl who proceded to cry all night. Let's just say that her attitude has changed drastically. I think they figure this will last for a short while, we will have to see about that!!!! So for now, the Guest house is still a crazy place and I wouldn't want it any other way!

On a good note, Sunday was Scottie and my 12th wedding anniversary. We had a nice evening at home with the kids playing the Wii. I made dinner that Hunter didn't want to eat... what's new and just hung out as a family. Guess after 12 years you don't need expensive gifts, trips and romantic dinners... NOT!!!!

Fight Night at the Meece House

Another fight night as well has come and gone. December is always at Ginger and Marty's and it was a quiet one this go around. Marty and Matt were both on shift so Ginger and Melissa were without their men. We did white elephant gift exchanges for adults and kids and got a couple of pics in front of the xmas tree. Ginger and I have been friends for years and are barely ever captured on camera together. Guess that's what happens when one of you is usually the one holding the camera. As the night came to an end, we almost burned the house down with all the candles on the cake for Melissa's birthday. The joy of getting one year older.... seeing if you can still get all the candles lit without burning yourself or melting the cake! :) Happy Bday Melissa!!!

Granny's Bday on Xmas Eve

Wow!!!! I cannot believe 2008 and has come and gone! We had a crazy year and I am sure 2009 will be just as busy. The holidays were a blur... Niki, Carlo and the boys came in town and stayed with us. The kids all had a great time and I enjoyed having them here with us Christmas morning (even if Tatum woke us up at 530 am) Here are a few pics from Christmas Eve. We all went over to Nanna's house (my mom's) and celebrated not only the holiday but also Grandma's bday. Enjoy!
